RIGA CRUISES

The Legend

Steamship traffic was the oldest regular form of transportation in Riga. Since 1884, the "Riga City Steamship Line" vessels navigated the Daugava, transporting passengers and entertaining visitors.

Today, modern riverboats have replaced the old steamships, but the seafaring traditions are still passed down from generation to generation. The original "Riga City Steamship Line" disappeared in the post-war turmoil.

Today, on the Daugava and Riga Canal, a company that continues the traditions of the old line — Riga Cruises — offers its services. Currently, the Riga Cruises fleet includes canal and riverboats, allowing you to choose the perfect vessel for any trip or event.

Riga Canal Cruise

Riga Canal and Daugava River Cruise

A sightseeing trip on a historic wooden canal boat through the historic center of Riga — Old Town. You’ll enjoy views of the city from both the canal and the Daugava River.

Route description:

During the cruise you will see the Freedom Monument, the National Opera House and its square with fountains, the University of Latvia, Central Market, Main Train Station, Kronvalda Park with the Freeport building, and the National Theatre. Once on the Daugava River, you'll see all of Riga’s bridges — Vanšu, Railway, Stone and Southern — as well as the Presidential Palace, Andrejsala, the Passenger Port, and the City Yacht Club.
